Folding

Paper Folding

Flyers, brochures, menus and letters all need folding before they go out, and folding by hand is slow and never quite straight. Colorbourne Graphics runs a dedicated folding service for printed paper up to 150 gsm, on sheets up to SRA3, for Melbourne businesses and other printers.

Folds we do

  • Single fold (half fold)
  • Roll fold and Z fold for DL brochures and menus
  • Double parallel fold
  • Gate fold and fold-out

We fold offset, coated, art and digitally printed papers.

Folding questions

What is the heaviest paper you can fold?

150 gsm. Anything heavier needs a crease along the fold line first, otherwise the print cracks and the fold looks rough. We can crease and then fold the same job.

How should I set up artwork for a folded brochure?

Design to the flat size with the fold lines marked on a separate layer, and keep text a few millimetres away from each fold. For a roll fold, the panel that folds inside is made slightly narrower so it tucks in flat. Ask us for the panel sizes before you design.
